Louisiana-based Mechanical Testing Laboratory is seeking an experienced Welding/Materials Engineer candidate to assist in all facets of operation including oversight of welding activities and logging weld data, performing mechanical testing activities, reporting testing results, documenting welding procedures, working with various oilfield-related design/construction Codes and Standards, and interfacing with clients. Additionally, the candidate will assist in detailed welding procedure development and troubleshooting of mechanical test failures.

 

Skills/Experience:

-Relevant Oil & Gas experience

-Knowledge of arc-welding processes

-Proficiency in applicable ASME, API, AWS and other industry welding standards

-Strong communication & customer service skills

-Exceptional attention to detail

-Ability to function in fast-paced lab environment

-Knowledge of materials and weldability

-Knowledge of various testing methods

-Prior laboratory experience is a plus

-Prior LIMS experience is a plus

-Candidate must be authorized to work in the US.

Job Description/ Duties:

Including, but not limited to, the following:

Oversee Welding Procedure Qualification activities

Monitor and record welding parameters for Procedure Qualification activities

Develop PQRs and WPS' to multiple Codes, Standards and Specifications including ASME IX, API 1104, AWS D1.1, DNV Standards, ABS rules, British Standards, etc.

Perform Mechanical testing activities (including reporting)

Assist with material/consumable selection for various welding processes and materials

Troubleshoot mechanical test failures

Assist in maintenance of Accredited Quality Program

Interface with clients through all phases of project development through project completion

 

Benefits Package:

Base starting salary, $85,000-120,000 annually, DOE.
